Enrique C. Fernández, MD, MBA, FAAFP, is a board-certified family physician in private practice in Miami, Florida, with more than two decades of continuous patient care experience. His training spans three cities: Havana, where he earned his medical degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences (Cum Laude, Golden Title Award) and completed an orthopedic and trauma residency at the Frank País Iberoamerican Orthopedic Center; Chicago, where he completed his family medicine residency at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital and served as chief resident; and Miami, where he has practiced since 2003.
Dr. Fernández has served as Chief of Medical Staff at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, Chairman of the Family Medicine Department, and Member of the Hospital Board of Trustees. He earned an MBA from the University of Miami in 2017 and holds board certifications in Family Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Acupuncture.
Eating Against the Network is the first volume of his Network Based Diabetes Care (NBDC) series, drawing on twenty-five years of primary-care observation of patients living with type 2 diabetes. He lives in Miami with his family.
